It’s been well documented that social media, specifically Instagram, is damaging precious natural areas. To help Jackson Hole protect its own pristine, beautiful areas, we launched a first-of-its-kind campaign to not only educate people about the issue, but also give them a way to actually join in. When people visit Jackson Hole, Instagrammers now have the option to select a generic new tag: Tag Responsibly, Keep Jackson Hole Wild, instead of geotagging the exact spot. With this option, their followers won’t see the exact location and, therefore, create unintended harm.
“We want to start a responsible conversation now about social media and conservation.”

Called Tag Responsibly, the campaign is already making an impact and receiving praise from The New York Times, Adweek, Contagious, Uproxx, MediaPost, Brand Channel, Adpulp and more.
