A look at the pitfalls of previous marketing efforts helped us realize we needed to invite locals to have a seat at what was truly their table. Through research, understanding and a whole lot of listening, we collaborated with Jackson Hole residents to capture their passion and channel it into something worth rallying around, for locals and visitors alike.
We helped locals keep something sacred without suffocating it.
The Stay Wild campaign has proven wildly successful and earned an Effie award for its effectiveness. Check out the case study.
With tourism on the rise, Jackson Hole’s iconic hiking trails were overcrowded so many people started wandering off-trail. This can lead to decades of ecosystem destruction. We needed to tell hikers to stay on the trails, but more trail signage only impedes the natural beauty. So, we helped the Jackson Hole Travel & Tourism Board put their foot down.
To allow our audience to get a taste of the Tetons, we created an experience called VRnoculars, a viewfinder retrofitted with virtual reality to give people a realistic view of Jackson Hole at 6,237 feet.
We took on the growing issue of geotagging bringing unintended harm to some of Jackson Hole’s most precious nature areas with Tag Responsibly, an initiative centered on the world’s first generic location tag.
We also used technology to let people spread the word about Jackson Hole.
In print, we let the Jackson Hole voice shine by adopting a unique editorial perspective that would call to the right types of visitors.
From the moment we saw the STAY WILD campaign, we knew that this was the right campaign, at the right time for Jackson Hole… It appeals to the visitor, in that the campaign illustrates this incredible sense of adventure, wildness and transformative experience that Jackson Hole is known for, but what’s more, the campaign resonates with the community and our values, because we know that in order for Jackson Hole to thrive, it must remain Wild.
