When colleagues in our Hatch innovation lab heard the call to the maker community that health care workers on the front lines needed more face shields (top hospitals use more than 1,500 a week!), they sprung into action. For the last three weeks, the team has been using our 3D printers in their homes to print face shield mounts that, when paired with plastic shields, are vital in protecting the health care workers who are testing and treating people experiencing symptoms of COVID-19. So far, they’ve printed and sent off more than 200 mounts and will keep going as long as the need is there.
